LUISA Project website

Overview

The LUISA (Land Use Intensity’s Potential, Vulnerability, and Resilience for Sustainable Agriculture in Africa) project is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and pastoralists throughout Africa.

The project is funded by Esa and is led by UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE (NL), with the objective of developing and implementing new methods, effectively linking and integrating modelling, satellite EO products (Sentinels, Explorers, Meteo missions, ESA-CCI) and dataset with in-situ, stakeholder-generated, social-economic data to advance the estimation of continental Africa potential, vulnerability and resilience for a sustainable agriculture.

ReMedia had the unique chance to support the project communication, by developing the official LUISA project website, in close collaboration with the LUISA project team, GISAT, and ESA. This partnership was marked by open communication, shared goals, and a strong mutual understanding, resulting in a web platform that effectively supports the project’s goals by engaging a wide range of users.

Customer’s request

Remedia was tasked with designing and developing a modern, user-friendly website that would effectively represent the LUISA project and its objectives.

The client emphasised the importance of aligning the design with ESA’s brand guidelines and communicating project information in a clear and accessible way.

Our solution

To kick off the project, Remedia conducted an initial stakeholder interview and shared a tailored questionnaire to better understand the project’s goals, target audience, and content priorities.

This discovery phase helped shape the foundation for a thoughtful and effective user experience.

The web team created a detailed prototype through Figma, carefully balancing visual appeal with usability, always according to the  ESA branding guidelines.

Through a collaborative review process  with stakeholders, after several implementations the design was refined and finalised. The approved concept was brought to life as a fully responsive website, built on a custom WordPress CMS— enabling easy content management and smooth performance across all devices.
