Discover ESA

The customer’s request

ESA welcomes thousands of visitors to its offices every year with events, Open days and various outreach and dissemination initiatives aimed at creating awareness for its activities towards the widest possible audience. Between 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic, each event was obviously canceled, but the need to be known has remained even stronger than before. For this ESA has asked Remedia and ATG-Europe to create an interactive, engaging and innovative communication tool, usable from web and mobile to show all the activities of ESA and its offices, giving the appearance of a unique organization, in which each part is connected to the other and which it needs to carry out each task.

Our answer

For us at Remedia, the key to success of a project is listening to the client’s wishes and interacting with him step by step, throughout the cycle of the process, from conception to the final proposal.

A challenge began in November 2020, which from the very beginning has given our team of experts the opportunity to bring out their professionalism and competence and put in place an attractive technological solution, in line with the customer’s request.
In the development phase we have deepened and outlined, thanks to various meetings with the customer and internal brainstorming, the layout, graphics, contents and possible navigation methods of the platform.
Realistic colours and illustrations were privileged but at the same time recalling a sci-fi setting to enhance the style and identity of the project.

So was born Discover ESA, a digital and interactive application capable of explaining and accompanying the user in a simple and intuitive way to discover the world of ESA.
A virtual and engaging tour which only a video game can do, full of informative material and docu – videos, a journey to discover this amazing world!

To our great satisfaction, the project exceeded the customer’s expectations and Josef Aschbacher, General Manager of ESA, wanted to create an introductory and welcome video on the Discover ESA homepage in which he publicly witnesses his great satisfaction with our innovative platform!

Space 2 connect 2021 event

The customer’s request:

SPACE2CONNECT 2021 is the most important event organised by ESA’s TIA directorate. This was the first time that all the suppliers of the upstream and downstream of the Telecommunication sector have been taken together by the European Space Agency. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemia the conference has been rescheduled twice and at the end it was held from the 11th to 14th of October, 2021. The event occurred both as a digital and live event but ust for a small number of key attendees could take part in the event in presence.

ESA’s TIA directorate asked for a 360° support: from the website to the POP materials, including a Linkedin campaign to be created with a very tight deadline.

Our answer:

ReMedia proposed a storytelling communication strategy in which it creates stories around  the Space2Connect objectives and key points to be applied on different communication tools and media.

The first step was to create a one page website which expressed the entire value of the conference, the 4 days programs with the details of the sessions, proposed also as an interactive pdf, and the production of a teaser to involve the audience.

In parallel with the development of the website we opened a Linkedin page that we populated for all the duration of the campaign and during the conference with ad hoc animations, videos, graphics and articles and an ADV campaign to reach the main European stakeholders and the look alike target audience.

Our main goal was to raise awareness on the event. Then, in a second moment, we created a retargeting campaign to increase engagement, conversion to the website and most of all to move the target to action: make a registration to the event.

For the  live event  we designed a communication material kit (badges, roll-up, flyers, backgrounds, panels, deskbanners, PPT templates, signages and totems) to decorate the venue and provide a strong identity also for the printed materials. Our team provided its support also directly at the on-site conference through the participation of two ReMedia professionals.

The final number of the event tells about a great success: 900 participants, more than 80 keynote speakers, more than 250 in sync connections,  more than 100 industry virtually exhibiting.

Call us to reach the same results.

ESA-ESTEC in 99 objects

Customer’s request

ESTEC is the main establishment of the European Space Agency. Over 100 space missions have taken their first steps along its corridors. ESA-ESTEC needed to explain, in an engaging and catching way, all its activities to a very wide and diversificate audience through a digital platform. The main challenge? Only one month to complete the task and create a successful website.

Our answer

ReMedia started its activity by defining a very clear action plan, able to match all the very strict deadlines and requirements. The first issue to be solved was to create one unique look and feel for all the objects and have a massive number of very good photos available for each of them. This is why, soon after the definition of the action plan, Remedia started a dedicated photo shooting to all the selected objects in parallel with the website developmen

In three weeks time all the photos have been taken and processed and then included in the website, that through a very simple navigation provides very interesting stories for all the objects, enhanced by great images and videos. Tags and links are used to provide more in-depth information, connecting each object to related contents on other ESA websites and to create also an internal journey among similar objects.

A CMS based on Laravel has been developed to help ESA keep the site constantly updated with the inclusion of new objects. The project officially started on the 4th of November 2021 and the website has been published on the 9th of December, meeting the deadlines requested by the customer.

Living Planet Symposium 2019: event communication

The client’s request

In 2019 ESA held its 4th edition of the Living Planet Symposium, the biggest conference in the world fully dedicated to Earth Observation. ESA searched for a partner able to follow all the communication activities related to the event, included a complete support during the course of the symposium.

Our answer

ReMedia provided 360-degrees support by creating all the tools for its promotion, all the venue decorations, gadgets, signage and videos for the booths. Activities started in March 2018, with a visit to the symposium venue: the MICO congress center (Milano Congressi). This was really a key activity for us, to better understand the architecture of the spaces to be decorated and the key parts to be highlighted to enhance every single environment.
Since the symposium wanted to have a low impact on climate we created quite a half of the communication tools in digital format, fully customizable and reusable for future editions of the conference. Moreover, most of the printed ones were produced with recycled paper, except for the panels of the stands and the building’s films.
The design phase started with the production of the conference key visual and its related style guide, and then proceeded with the design of the call for paper, the invitations cards and the website production;
we then started to produce other promotional tools such as graphics, animations and teasers for social media, and the layout for the app to guide the participants trhough the event sessions and entertainment activities.

Finally we produced promotional tools to be given away during the event itself: customised gadget, badge the symposium programme and flyer, roll-up, digital posters and videos for the booths.
During the conference days we directly supported the even on-site: we presented some ESA tools at the booths (yes, we can also do this for you!) and we worked in the director’s room to change in real-time teh conference programme and the powerpoint presentation.

A huge job that has really given visibility to all the skills of our company.

Cambio stile

The customer’s request

Well-being comes from proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. This concept should represent a “mantra” for every human being to follow in every period of his existence, especially since he is very young.

For this reason and to raise awareness among students of both primary and secondary school, on the increasingly looming danger of childhood obesity and food-related diseases, we were commissioned by the MIUR for a publication that would tell children about the concrete need to a healthy and balanced diet and the right motor activity, throughout your life.

Our answer

To respond effectively to the customer’s request, we first analyzed the target of the publication, its communication style and the communication channels to which it was closest. Thinking about digital natives, we immediately thought that the publication could not be printed, but digital.
In the initial phase we divided our stakeholders into two distinct audience groups: elementary / middle school children and teenagers (13 – 18 years).
We have thus chosen to undertake two different communication approaches, both in the graphic style and in the contents but with a single denominator, the technological solution: a touchbook.

Thanks to this tool we have created an innovative publication:

  • for the little ones, full of games and illustrations dedicated to nutrition and sport
  • for the older ones accompanied by columns, curiosities and information so as to make it look like a diary.

With the advent of Expo 2015 it was decided to expand the product even further by adding content dedicated to food as “nourishment for the planet and energy for life”, as the theme of the Universal Exposition stated.
The result was very positive and the project closed with the approval of the Ministry of Education, a press conference, a communication campaign and dedicated pages in school newspapers.

In addition, to allow wider use to all the public of the EXPO, the touchbook has been published on all major Kindle, Android and Apple stores and in 3 languages: Italian, French and English.

Copernicus Touchbook

How to make the most of the largest Earth Observation program ever made.

The customer’s request:

The Copernicus project is the largest Earth Observation program ever promoted by the European Commission with the support of ESA for the construction of a constellation of satellites and the Environment Agency (EEA) for Earth data detection.

The articulated nature of Copernicus, technical and difficult to understand by a non-technical public, brought ESA to contact us initially to convert an institutional brochure into a digital tool, applied to the general public with the aim of describing the program and the actors involved.

Our answer:

As soon as the customer’s request arrived, we immediately realized the enormous potential of this project: we had the opportunity to develop an innovative digital tool that really presented all the value and potential of the program from different points of view, given the nature and the flexibility of the object we had in our hands.

With this idea in mind, we have created the architecture of the project on several conceptual levels: on the one hand we have created an institutional, digital communication tool, able to speak to stakeholders and the most experienced public, but in parallel we have created it another able to speak directly to those citizens who will be the true beneficiaries of the program for the first time.

Thus was born the Copernicus touchbook, a project born from a real teamwork that from 2016 to 2018 involved us directly together with many experts of the contents of ESA and the European Commission to give life to a unique and innovative communication tool that was at the height of the program it was to represent.

Most of the work was dedicated to the storytelling part for each Copernicus application, to describe their impact on everyday life. Different stories have thus seen the light that use all the tools to engage the reader such as quizzes, games, interactive infographics, 3D animations, video and audio to explain to everyone the connections between satellite data and the services that can derive from them to improve. the quality of our life.

ONDA DIAS

ONDA DIAS

The customer’s request:

One of the main difficulties with which the European Commission has had to interface in recent years is the management and storage of the countless information of Big Data provided by Copernicus satellite analysis tools.
It was therefore necessary to set in on the methods of conservation and processing of the same, favoring the use of intelligent instruments that could govern and stem this criticality.

For this reason the Commission has made available a tender won by four consortia, including SERCO Italia, which has become the leading reality for the creation of ONDA Dias (data information access service), sophisticated and cutting-edge instrumentation open to all, simple versatile based on an open cloud service.

Our answer:

For the launch of the Dias platforms, in 2018, SERCO commissioned us to create a promotional video, roll up and flyer in which the multiple function of Onda and its great versatility of use, fruition and above all its exclusivity.
For the Roll up and the flyer it was decided to focus on the appeal and considerable communicative power of augmented reality.
The video was created with great care, starting from a detailed and precise script, continuing with the choice of particular and unique motion graphics that have been able to enhance and tell the potential of this tool to Copernicus stakeholders on the occasion of the 20 years since the first kickoff. of Baveno.

On this occasion, the video we made was shown during the official presentation of the event, bringing Onda to an effective and highly successful level of exposure.

AIDEO

AIDEO

The customer’s request:

Aideo is a scientific research project funded by ESA and unearthed in November 2019. Its acronym stands for Artifical Intelligence and Earth Observation data.

It is a very complex research project since it is going to use Copernicus EO data analysed by the most sophisticated deep learning approaches to realise an early warning system to alert areas that could be impacted by Nyle disease.

Since the complexity of the message, Remedia was asked to be part of the consortium that has to perform the needed activties to manage all the communication activities needed to disseminate the result of the project and create awareness.

Our answer:

Remedia elaborated a dissemination plan and produced different promotional tools for online and offline use.

The activity started with the design of the identity of the project, and followed with the design of the website as main communication tool. We then produced digital and paper flyers, a video and several presentation to be used during event and conferences also in their virtual edition. The advent of Covid-19 Pandemic have in fact requested a quick change of strategy and a massive use of digital tools, but we successfully engaged the main stakeholders throughout the communication process, despite the restrictions, despite the unexpected.

The project, was funded through the EO Science for society of ESA initiative. It closed in September 2020 with great enthusiasm of ESA which presented our work with satisfaction and positive feedback in many conferences and initiative that followed its closure.
